We toured inside the Tabernacle, home of the infamous Mormon Tabernacle Choir. We were really impressed with the acoustics. It was built before microphones/PA systems existed...they dropped a pin at the front of the tabernacle and we could hear it at the back...some 140 feet away. Hence the expression came to mind "it was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop". Afterwards we wandered around Temple Square and marvelled at the temple itself. One of the key reasons Brigham Young provided labour for UP to build the railroad westbound was to efficiently haul stone to complete the building of the temple. The first floor took 20 years to build, and following the availability of the railroad the balance of the temple was completed in 6 years.

Temple Square, Salt Lake City
The trusty GPS guided down the canyons from Park City into Salt Lake, amid high rain and winds. The curves were a bit tricky. Eventually we arrived safely at Temple Square, the epi-centre of the Mormon faith. The rain stopped and the sun began shining brilliantly, and there were beautiful flowers all around. Kinda makes you become a believer!!
