We have changed the leave date to July 21st, so with less than a month to go we continue to struggle with fitting everything on the two bikes. Some absolute necessities include: crome polish for Bev's bike; a rain cover for Bev's bike; a bucket for washing Bev's bike; and, whitewall tire wash....yes, for Bev's bike!! Once these necessities are packed then we needs our pills, our maps, our rain coats and with the remaining space some clothes.
We have loaded the GPS with detailed routes across the US, up through Alberta/BC, down Pacific Hwy to Big Sur (oops, what about all those fires and the current temp. of 49 degrees?) maybe we will have to skip Death Valley? We hear it is wickedly hot and key word is not "valley" but "death". The GPS route moves on through Arizona's Grand Canyon, Utah's arches and the highest paved road in North America (near Denver, Colorado) at 14,300 ft. Bev called the HD dealership and they said they'd never had such a question but thought that the fuel injection would handle it, cautioning us that even planes needed oxygen at that height!
Then on from there..............to the Mississippi River, New Orleans, Florida Keys and up the East Coast (where we hope we are not tossed into the Atlantic with Fall hurricanes).
We'll keep you posted with our happenings.
