The Plan

The plan is to travel around the perimeter of the US. Since we are Canadian revolving around the US is no problem. We are 60 years old and people say "why are you doing this? how can you do this? aren't you afraid something will happen? what about your jobs?" And we say, "why not???" We are doing this on two motorcycles: Dave on a 2006 Honda ST1300 and Bev on a 2007 Harley Heritage Softail and we say "what the hell !!! why not ??"

Starting from Toronto, Canada, we will head up to Tobermory and "Chi-Cheemaun" ferry to the north shore of Lake Huron then on to Sault Ste Marie, and south to Mackinac Island for a moment in time (we love movies). The next leg is south to Ludington, Michigan, and then ferry across to Wisconsin. Next comes a long overland haul to the Black Hills of South Dakota.

It will then be on to criss-crossing the Rockies through Yellowstone and up to Jasper. From there Bev & Dave hope to go across to Whistler, down to Vancouver and over to the island.

Next it will be another ferry to Oregon and down the Pacific Coast to somewhere south of Big Sur and overland to Las Vagas and the Grand Canyon.

Next it will be up through Utah & Colorado and east to the Mississippi. Then down the river to New Orleans and over the the Florida Keys -hope there are no hurricanes -and finally back up the eastern seaboard before the snow flies. In all they expect to cover over 20,000 km (about 12,500 miles).

This adventure will commence August 1st, 2008, and we will post again soon by continuing with the plan for our itinerary. We are just now learning how to "blog" which for people in their 60s does not need mocking.....we will need some time to figure this damn thing out (e.g.,how will we carry all our pills???)
